ASICLAND Signs $19 Million eSSD Controller Development Contract

[2024-07-31] ASICLAND has partnered with FADU to enhance its global market competitiveness through the development of an eSSD controller.
ASICLAND (445090, CEO Jong-min Lee), a leading company in ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) design solutions, announced on the 30th that it has signed a $19 million (approximately KRW 26.3 billion) contract with FADU, a global semiconductor fabless company, to develop an eSSD controller.
This contract focuses on the development and supply of next-generation eSSD (enterprise solid-state drive) controller ASICs. ASICLAND will provide comprehensive support, including IP contracting, front-end and back-end design, DFT (Design for Testability) & DFT RTL design, tape-out, and wafer processing, managing the entire design and manufacturing process. This initiative aims to accelerate the development of high-performance and low-power SSD solutions, further bolstering ASICLAND’s competitiveness in the global market.
The importance of eSSD controllers is growing in the global semiconductor market as demand for low-power, high-performance solutions rapidly increases due to renewed investment in data centers and the spread of artificial intelligence (AI). High-performance eSSD controllers have become essential components for data centers and AI applications, critical for providing high performance and stability in data centers, cloud computing, AI applications, and financial transaction systems that require large-scale data processing and fast response speeds.
ASICLAND is already developing high-efficiency power management semiconductors (PLP, PMIC) required for eSSD modules with FADU Co., Ltd. Through this contract, ASICLAND has secured a position to supply key chips for the mass production of eSSD controllers and modules. This move will enable ASICLAND to expand into the development of next-generation memory solutions, including eSSD products, and enhance its competitiveness in the global market alongside its partners.
